Employee Handbook Guide

If you are not already using an Employee Handbook, you need to adopt one immediately! There are many reasons for this including the fact that adopting a handbook allows you to have more control over what goes on in your workplace. Proper adoption and use of a well designed Employee handbook helps protect you from unfounded discrimination claims by disgruntled employees, and it makes your insurance carrier more comfortable in accepting you as a client. It also benefits your employees by making it clear which benefits they are entitled to and what your expectations are as far as behavior in the workplace.  It also confirms what kind of treatment they can expect from their supervisors and co-workers while at work.

Some of the important topics to cover in the Employee Handbook are benefits, safety rules, sick day policies, vacation, acceptable work behavior, how work injuries are handled, your anti-discrimination policies, disciplinary procedures, work schedules and hours and many other important issues.

I am happy to send you an example handbook, including some sample policies and procedures used by other businesses that you can use as a guide in assembling your own handbook, but every business needs to customize this handbook to fit their specific needs. And of course, your employee handbook should get final approval from your attorney before it is implemented. Please request our exmple to help get your started.

If you need assistance reviewing your existing employee handbook or in putting together an all new version that addresses your updated company needs, I would be happy to help you with that project. Please call or e-mail me so we can discuss your particular requirements and I can provide you with a service fee quote. Please complete the information in the form below or you can e-mail or call me directly at the phone number or address shown below.

If you already have a handbook, it may be time to review and bring it up to date. (The laws change frequently!) There may also be some topics that were overlooked in your original draft so you need to add them now.
